You say:
Brazil, Australia, Chile, England...

But you say:
the United States
the United Kingdom (UK)
the Philippines

Entenda que o artigo the é somente usado para países cujos nomes estão no plural como nos exemplos acima, países como Brasil, Bélgica, China não usamos o artigo the em inglês, ok?
