O uso correto de preposições em inglês é muito questionado por alunos, desde os níveis básicos até os mais avançados.Por isso hoje uma super dica para o uso das preposições IN, ON e AT.

PREPOSITIONS IN, ON and AT

. We use AT with times:

AT 6 o´clock

AT lunchtime

. We also use AT in these expressions:

AT the weekend/AT weekends Will you be in town at the weekend?

AT Christmas We always eat lots of chocolate at Easter.

AT the moment/AT present Mr.Smith is busy at the moment/at present.

AT the same time We arrived at the same time.

. We use ON with dates and days:

ON 16 July ON mondays(s)

ON Christmas Day (but "AT Christmas") They met ON 12 March.

. We use IN for longer periods of time (for example: months/years/seasons):

IN August IN the 20th century IN 1979

IN the 1950s IN (the) summer

.We also say:

IN the morning(s) IN the afternoon(s) IN the evening(s)

*But we say: AT night

. We do not use AT/ON/IT before last and next:

I´ll see you next week. They moved last January.

. IN + period of time = a time in the future:

The bus will be leaving in a few minutes.

Judy will be back in a week.

They are getting married in six months.

. We also use IN to say how long it takes to do something:

I learned to speak Spanish in one year.
