Aprenda algumas expressões comuns em inglês (4/4)



Bring something to a head = To precipitate a turning point, crisis, decision point, and so on.
e.g. After weeks of debate, the chairman brought the question to a head with the phrase: "Let´s vote on it"

Enough of this silly talk = Let´s get down to business.


Put and end to = To terminate (usually abruptly)
e.g. When my mother said, "No, she put and end to the discussion"


Raise a question = To ask or present a question.
e.g. Wait a minute, please. John wants to raise a question.


Take a break = To stop for a brief rest or intermission.
e.g . There! We finished washing the car. Let´s take a break before we wax it.
